⭕️ Gaza journalist Asem Alnabih joined the Drop Site News livestream from Gaza City to discuss the deteriorating humanitarian conditions under severe ongoing aid restrictions and continued bombings and ceasefire violations.
He described a city being deliberately rendered unlivable under Israel’s ongoing assault. Alnabih said this is Gaza’s third winter in tents built to last “a few weeks, not two years,” as sewage systems, water networks, and fuel supplies collapse. “More than 250,000 tons of solid waste accumulated in every corner of this city… 75% of water wells have been destroyed. One hundred percent of sewage pumps are not working.” “This lovely city has been destroyed in the past 24 months… hundreds of thousands of families are staying in tents, without any basic services,” he told us.
Alnabih told Ryan Grim that Israel has only “stopped the war on television,” while bombardment continues. “The strikes continue every day… food insecurity, water scarcity, huge damage to infrastructure.”
He said Israel is openly pursuing mass expulsion: “Netanyahu said Rafah would open one way only, for people to leave, and no one would be allowed to return. That’s a very clear plan.”
Though his own children are outside Gaza, Alnabih said many refused to flee the territory and Gaza City in the north that has come under renewed Israeli attacks recently: “More than 300,000 people stayed in Gaza City and refused to leave,” he said. ”We will not allow Israel to take our city.”
“What we are asking for is not special. We are asking to be treated like any human around the world.”

In December, only 140 UN aid trucks per day entered Gaza on average, far below the 600-truck daily target set under the ceasefire.
▪️Out of 8 humanitarian convoys coordinated Sunday, only 4 were approved by Israeli authorities. While some commercial goods have entered, prices remain out of reach for most families, who have had no income for over two years.
▪️In parallel, pro-Israeli propagandists have circulated unverified videos claiming Hamas hid baby formula to cause malnutrition. These allegations ignore the reality that Israel cut off aid entirely for months, plunging Gaza into famine. Since March, Gaza received almost no aid until a trickle began in May along with the implementation of GHF death traps. Over 94% of the trickle of regular UN shipments were looted in this period because Israel dismantled security by assassinating police officers and aid security guards, and arming criminal gangs. Blaming Hamas for malnutrition in Gaza is a distraction from Israel’s prolonged blockade and ongoing restrictions.
During the worst of the days of the hunger crisis in Gaza in the past six months, Hamas deliberately hid literal tons of infant formula and nutritional shakes for children by storing them in clandestine warehouses belonging to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
The goal, as I said then, was to worsen the hunger crisis and initiate a disaster as part of the terror group’s famine narrative in a desperate effort to stop Israel’s onslaught against Gaza and force the return of the UN’s aid distribution mechanism, and away from the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Now, activists in the Strip are documenting the waste and deliberate disposal of tons of infant formula, nutritional children’s shake, and children’s powdered milk, which Hamas had hoarded away, given the saturation of the coastal enclave with humanitarian aid after the ceasefire two months ago.
When countless other Palestinian activists and I from Gaza said this back in July, August, and September, we were villainized, attacked, threatened, and made into pariahs by the “pro-Palestine” industrial complex and activist mafias, even though for Gazans, the evidence was so clearly apparent before our eyes. What those in the West continue to fail to understand is that there is no being pro-Palestine without also having a serious vigilance against Hamas’s continued manipulation of international public opinion to hide behind the Strip's civilian

You can have compassion for the real suffering of the Palestinian civilians of Gaza, and demand Israeli action to facilitate aid entry into the coastal enclave, while still holding Hamas accountable for its part in causing a hunger and starvation crisis in the first place.
