12.02.2026 02:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sometimes people obviously use automation to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit and it's comical. For example, they will say to raise the temperature of something by 25C (77F). Come again? LOL Sure, 25C is 77F in the thermometer, but no in this context.
12.02.2026 02:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Some countries use a word for straw ("paja" or "pajita," the literal translation of the plant material) that means masturbation colloquially for Cubans. Is is the same in Mexico?
12.02.2026 02:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I honestly need more joy and more food in my timeline. A palate cleanser, if you will.
I'm mentally and emotionally exhausted with everything that is going on in this country.
In a previous life, I was a GI tech in a naval hospital and assisted in colonoscopies, endoscopies, etc. The patients didn't get Propofol for colonoscopies, they got Versed and another medication whose name escapes me right now. I've had Propofol once in my life and hated it too.
11.02.2026 21:06 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Currently experiencing a "reply all" situation at work.
11.02.2026 20:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm thinking about moving to Kritik for discussion assignments. Has anyone had any experience with it? Good? Bad?
If it matters, it's integrated into our LMS.
Feel free to DM.
Another week; another episode of "how much AI slop am I going to be grading this round?"
09.02.2026 15:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is a seriously screwed up thing to do to anyone, but especially a graduate student on a shitty stipend.
The reason I won't mention names is because most people were great, it was just the two people involved with the money that dropped the ball. It's also not that hard to figure out.
I won't mention names but a certain conference has posted their program and I keep remembering how 6 years ago they promised me a small grant for travel (grad student) and then never paid. Kept giving me excuses, then just ghosted me. I gave up trying to get the couple hundred dollars. Shameful.
09.02.2026 15:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I havenβt seen anyone else mention this. Can we talk about how Bad Bunny had his motherβs last name and not his dadβs on his jersey?
Fuck the patriarchy.

27.01.2026 20:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In today's first world problems, I finally had to upgrade my phone for the first time in 5/6 years. I started the setup process, which is now wireless, without realizing it would take 8 hours to transfer everything over to the new phone. Now my phone is bricked for 8 hours.

getting feds to say shit like this on camera with their face exposed is NUTS -- you can not reform this agency, everyone involved must go, there is no practical way to root out all of these guys
27.01.2026 18:10 β π 11034 π 4014 π¬ 222 π 91So let me get this straight, one ICE agent was justified for killing a woman because she was in a car that was going to run the officer over (bullshit, but stay with me), but it's OK for ICE agents to attempt to run people over with a goddamned tank?
Got it.
I renewed my passport last year and it took something like 11 days from online application to passport in hand, no expediting. I was very surprised at how fast it was.
I had to get my previous passport in person because I needed it for a week later (didn't realize it was expiring) and it was nuts.
Urban Appetites by Cindy Lobel has a chapter on the Early Republic. It's also a great book all-around.
24.01.2026 23:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Feeding Gotham is fantastic, but it's a pretty rough read for nonacademics and I suspect undergraduates too. If the student in question is a grad student, then yes. But's it's also pretty niche, I think. I don't know, I love it but it's complicated LOL.
