Warren: "It is still the case that the Trump admin cannot explain the reasons we entered this war, the goals we're trying to accomplish. The only part that seems clear is that while there is no money for 15m Americans who lost their healthcare, there's a billion a day to spent on bombing Iran."

RIP to Jesse Jackson. His funeral is today. I wanted to share this clip from his appearance on Sesame Street in 1971. His important words ring just as true today as they did back then.

Everyone should read Trump’s long word salad quoted in full by @hcrichardson.bsky.social when he was asked why the government has not been able to help get Americans out of the war zone.

Joe Biden was forced out of the presidency for less.

Four years have passed since Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia was supposed to win in three days. Instead, Ukraine reinvented modern warfare, built a drone industry, and can destroy a thousand Russian soldiers in a day. Ukraine can win.

In today’s Letter, @hcrichardson.bsky.social makes it clear that ignorance is no longer an option. After Renee and Alex you’re either for a law based constitutional republic, or you’re not. The time to choose has passed.

We are now 36 days beyond the statutory deadline for the full release of the Epstein files

National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

Whatever is in the Epstein Files is so explosive that the leaders of the Department of Justice are openly breaking the law every day to keep us from seeing it. (Just a reminder amongst all the other stuff flying around.)

Moriarty: "A police officer of color who was off duty was boxed in by ICE - she's a citizen - they demanded to know who she was & see her papers. She was going to try to record it & they ripped the phone out of her hand. That happened to a cop. That's what's happening here on the streets of MN."

Drawing of two hands holding cocktail glasses and toasting. Caption: Depression, suppression, forget it all now/Inflation, elation, to you, here's how.

On January 16, 1919, the U.S. Congress ratified the 18th amendment prohibiting alcohol's sale, distribution, and production. The 21st amendment ended Prohibition as evidenced in the gleeful 1933 title, "Cocktail Parade." #TGIF #Trusty #digitallibraries buff.ly/saL2pOe

This is what criminals & soon-to-be-sanctioned dictators do: set up a cozy personal nest egg in a country that won't extradite them & has no agreements that would compel them to enforce other countries' sanctions.

That's why sanctioned Russian oligarchs made a beeline for the UAE in 2022.

People in military uniforms and suits gather around a menorah, with flags in the background. The uniformed man in the center is lighting the third candle of the menorah while other men and one woman are gathered around him, part of the Jewish War Veterans of the USA. Photo by Bernard M. Cohn.

On the 3rd night of Hanukkah, we share this 1950s photo of Jewish American war veterans gathered around a menorah. 🕎

The preservation of images like this links the past to our present & shows how traditions endure across generations.

Rob Reiner was a good guy. He made a lot of movies about good guys, in worlds where not everyone was good and you didn’t have to be good. He made movies about people trying. He was angry, as many hopeful people are. He knew the world could be better and he wanted it to be. His death is devastating.
