Excited to be taking part in my first #FewForgottenWomen today. The woman Iโm researching was lodging not far from where my grandfather was living at the time of the 1901 census so it feels a little bit like going home.

17.10.2025 07:47 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Leicestershire & Rutland Family History Society Zoom Talk Wednesday 15th October 7.30pm Killing Off Your Ancestors by Alison Spring Even though your ancestors might have lived a long time ago, finding out about their deaths can teach you a lot about their lives. Discover the many sources of information which will shed light on this important point of their history. To book a place, please email Sue Lester on publicity@lrfhs.org.uk from 7 days before the talk (7th October). The talk is free to all LRFHS members. For non-members a small donation (suggested ยฃ3) is appreciated as a contribution. A collage of images shows a death certificate, a gravestone, a newspaper announcement of a death, and a graveyard.
I'm looking forward to meeting with the Leicestershire & Rutland FHS lrfhs.org.uk this Wednesday where we'll be discussing how to kill off our ancestors. More details in the alt text. #FamilyHistory #Genealogy #AncestryHour

14.10.2025 18:06 โ ๐ 15 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was in at Glasgow City Archives this morning so popped over to the SP service. Was very lucky & happy to get a cancellation for this Monday (4 leaf clover find??!) as the ongoing trouble with Kilmarnock has played havoc with my client work for several months.

Large (ish) Maine Coon girl cat with massive attitude who allegedly is doing us all a favour and tolerating us.
She is. Though she was runt of the litter & her mum rejected her so is a very small MC. I have 2 other cats. The boss of the 3 is a tiny girl who was a feral rescue plus I have another MC who is a beauty. And she knows it. She is a cat that should be an only. The Diva screams out of her.

As every family knows, life gets busy after the arrival of a newborn. Top tip from the mid 19th century - have your baby baptised before it's born! Not a straightforward transcription howler. Columns in original register not consistently used for birth or bap dates. #Genealogy #FamilyHistory
