Thanks for the reply. It was too fast before, I exported it at the default times, usually up to them around 140. The tails are something I'll need to redo for sure.

Thanks, I appreciate that especially as the npcs and enemies are all the solid colour base sprites there. I so struggle with the animation so perhaps I'm getting better at them lol!

I used to do the same, make all my animations in MSPaint and then put them in Jasc Animation Shop to animate. Like you say, it's a lot easier now with Aseprite.

Morale is also linked to morale breaks where enemies have different behaviours when it hits. Some will run, some will cower and others will charge at you.

The roaring system is meant to give you some options in how to play. This and the arrest system will need some tweaking still.

Early version of the roar system. Each enemy has a morale stat that drops when their health reduces, they see allies die or they get roared at. Roaring forces low morale enemies into a surrender state for a short time so they can be arrested. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #pixelart

I've implemented a new bark system. Characters can have unique dialogue barks when certain actions and events happen around them. If an ally dies near another gang member, they may react to it.

When I say normal mapping, I mean actual normal maps that can be added to help with lighting. I've played around with it a bit but I need to spend a lot more time with it. At the minute I'm just a bit more focused on getting some of the base sprites made.

Yeah, it's a good idea, I was just saying even if this doesn't work, the behaviours can be split to be used elsewhere. Like you say, lots of possibilities.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm still at an early stage with the lighting so it is off in places for sure. I have normal mapping to trial soon too. I want to try and work on some more sprites so I can replace rectangle placeholders first. Sorry I don't have either of those. I'm not big on social media.

I'll see how it goes and fine tune it. I can also reuse a lot of the behaviours from this particular AI in a lot of places too, which is the main thing really.
