The first-ever FC Supra signings are a huge statement of intent from the #CanPL newcomers!

Derek Martin says Sartini’s signing is a testament to what #CanPL has to offer.

Asked about developing local talent, he says the Wanderers are already on the right path with their U-21 and U-18 programs. Now, he says, it’s about becoming the hub in Atlantic Canada and working with the academy to bring players into the first team — not something that’s happened to date.

He says when he was with the ‘Caps he came at a low point for the club and he was proud to create a connection with the community. He says he’s looking forward to fostering what’s already here.

Asked about his joint role as coach and GM, he says he wants to create a sustainable environment for players and the club. He adds he wants to help develop players to take the next step in his career

Speaking to gathered media and supporters, Sartini says he had options back in Europe following his time with @whitecapsfc.com but wanted to stay in Canada because he felt “he owed a debt” to the country.
