What does the TM mean?
It doesn't necessarily mean the thing it's appended to is functions as a trademark.
It doesn't mean the thing has been registered (that's an R).
Mightn't it be fair to say TM is largely aspirational?
A statement that "we'd like you to see this as a trademark"?

the photog who took the photos took 2 sets. the 1st was blurry, so he returned a 2nd day. this is significant b/c dupont didn't notice the first day or didn't care, but the 2nd day they got upset.
dupont might've been used to getting "buzzed," but the return was suspicious
