IMO this kind of shit just differentiates the kiddies who are stanning skaters like pop stars vs actual fans of the sport who understand the nuance of the skills. It’s the four year fan who only roots for their country but updated to modern internet stan culture where stan goggles make them blind
so fstwt has swung back to "if you like Japanese skaters you're a weeb"
but Japanese skaters legitimately have the best skating skills and the best ice coverage and knees because of how figure skating is taught and trained in Japan.
Yeah, we all love Alysa.
But her scores?
FS was typically American: upper body, head & neck locked in "safe" position almost the entire program i.e. much lower difficulty than other skaters.
Arms lacked elegance. Weak choreo. Footwork, edges, speed were nothing special.
And yet, THAT PCS?! 🙄
alysa's combo got the same call as kaori's and mone's.
adelia's jumps got no calls.
alysa has no edge call.
isu doing this stuff is why i find it very hard to sympathise with us skaters even when they're good people.
Valieva was just the unlucky one that got CAUGHT.
IMO the whole team should have been disqualified.
As far as I'm concerned, the 2022 Olympic Women's podium was:
🥇 Kaori Sakamoto
🥈 Wakaba Higuchi
🥉 Young You
Tutberidze's team "doctor" at the time (Shvetsky) couldn't possibly have had anything to do with it either, could he? Despite his history of doping offences, and his attempts to patent one of his doping methods.
Couldn't be the "vitamins" they give to ALL their skaters either, eh?
Again the sea of flags from Japan. What can they produce? Lying in 5th place, surely a medal is within their grasp if they can skate anywhere near their top form. 😭😭😭😭

He not only managed to deliver under all that pressure - he did it without the support of the judges or his own federation. Actually they actively worked against him.
Some of his own teammates on occasion too...
I bet I can guess which skater he thinks should have been left off the Beijing team, to make room for him...

How delicious is the schadenfreude, exactly? When murican plans go down the toilet, in just a few short minutes? After the YEARS of progaganda, corrupt judging & phony scoring they spent, to create a new "champion"?
I sincerely hope every team currently training at IAM or thinking about joining them is taking this day to reflect on their choices. Them dropping Bock and Lilah and Lewis like hot potatoes for FBC after building them up the entire quad, yeah this could be you.
What an awful message the sport of figure skating just sent to sexual abuse survivors and victims, and parents who want their children to participate in a safe sport.

NBC Sports has two men who were busted for sexual harassment, Mike Tirico and Shaun White, all over the Olympics, but fired Gabriella Papadakis over calling out her ex-partner as abusive. He just won gold, btw. 🙄
