A colleague just did an experiment where she made a slide deck and then compared it with what she asked Copilot to do.

The results were both hilarious and instructive.

It’s like they’re reacting to someone saying Trump is a terrible skateboarder.

The response is much more interesting than the baseline smear.

One married *untenured* prof was boinking his senior grad student and another tenured prof was boinking one of his, and this was just on MY single floor of a multi-story lab building.

In both cases, group dynamics were severely warped, to say nothing of the gross power dynamics.

I had to step in to protect a work-study student in my PI's lab (I was her mentor) from a lecherous Inorganic prof back in the mid-90s. It's bad and always has been.

1/ I highly recommend The First Russian Revolution by Susanna Rabow-Edling. She provides an extremely readable narrative history of the Decembrist Revolt. A path not taken? Too speculative. But certainly the book succeeds in demonstrating longstanding important liberal currents in Russian thought.

As the father of a woman with CS/Math degree from an Ivy league institution (not his), the fact that they didn't toss his ass as soon as he made those public comments still chaps my ass. So I'm gonna revel in my pettiness and enjoy this moment a little bit.
