I've made a habit of continually swapping profile pics because I like playing with my picrew avatar like they're a dress up doll.

One of these days I'll commit to it being a snapshot of some art I've commissioned (likely featuring Rhiannon because she really wears my colors)

Today is not that day.

New Picrew Profile Pic of myself, Bawdy, as a Queen surrounded by a bunch of roses. Neat, right?

Halloween's over, which means I'm no longer a vampire.

Still gonna keep dressing up, though. What better way to prepare for the winter than by endearing myself with such lovely roses? Who wouldn't want to be swept up in their vines and fall under my command, tending to me and my wonderful garden?

I remember having a hard time picking one over the other, but I am glad Vil won as they never really get to shine outside of being a supporting role.

It's very interesting to see all the groundwork being laid for the Veda Plot in the tournament. Can't wait to see where it goes next!

The fight with Vil and Hilja trying to hypnotize Wren is fun, and I like how playful their back and forth is with all their different abilities.

I will say, I really like how this Tournament helped flesh out Wren a lot by putting more focus on them, even if it was in the name of zonking their mind.

Hilja being deadset on consent is a really nice way to make her stand out among the cast. I've always wondered what she'd think of your other characters because of it.

Her hypnotizing Cloud!Duth is a nice stylistic callback to her microstories and also Real AF given how hot your vampire OCs are.

Vil's hypnosis was very nice, and I love how they had poetry and prose weaved into it. It's a nice hypnotic trait for them ala Lila's Lullabies.

The way they turned Wren's doubts against them was fun, and I like the reversal of Vampire invitations by having them invite Wren inside their coils.

I mentioned last time this has prototype Veda, and in some ways this is prototype Erada, but she already did appear in one story. However, she didn't have real art yet, so I doodled something for her.
I liked making the interview character unrelated to the next match to mix it up.

Lamia Pathsways 190 Yes, she’s dangerous. You think she warped your mind, or tried to, without your consent. You shouldn’t trust her. You should get away from her. She leans closer, arms forward. You shove her away before she can draw your shoulders into her hug. “No way,” you say. “I’m not dealing with you. Just leave me alone.” You pull her slithering tail off your legs, but whenever you turn away she slides back into view, your shove not dissuading her smile. Her scent lingers around you, and her scaly body hangs among the branches as if she’s surrounding you with her world. “Now, now,” she says, “let me look at you.” As you push yourself off her coil seat she sways before you, eyes wide with pulsing colors. Your mind flashes with memories of her eyes. When she looked into your eyes, you lost all worries, all cares. You slipped along a soft stream into never-ending bliss. Her beauty overshadowed your thoughts, her charm stroked and massaged your mind with pleasure. It felt so good. Couldn’t you let her look into your eyes for a little bit? –20a Yes, just a little while is fine . . . –200 Wait, no! Look away!

Lamia Pathsways 200 As you gaze into the lamia’s eyes, the jungle warps, hazy and blurry, the sounds deep and deafened as if there’s stuffing in your ears, all your focus spiraling to the lamia. You shouldn’t look. Her eyes can hypnotize you! You yank your head away from her gaze as if the colors had reached in and grabbed hold of your mind. You stumble as your thoughts spin, your senses muffled. If you looked any longer they’d have been numbed to everything but the lamia. You can’t let her look at you with those hypnotic eyes. You lift your arms around your head so she can’t sneak a glance at your side. Though your hearing feels muted and warped, one voice sounds perfectly clear. “You don’t want me to look at you?” The lamia sounds hurt, her voice whimpering. Maybe it would’ve been okay to let her look at you for a little while— No! You tense up and shove away those contrite thoughts. She wants to hypnotize you. Don’t let her have her way. Her cool scales snake around the back of your head, and you shiver. The gentle scales of her plush tail feel as massaging as they did the other night. You mustn’t look into her eyes, but it’s not like her tail is hypnotic, right?

The haze starts to lift. As long as you don’t let her look into your eyes again you’ll be fine. The lamia pulls your head back towards her. Her scales rub you so softly you forget to resist. “Then, you look at me.” Your eyes widen as you find yourself staring into the lamia’s eyes, the pulsing colors grabbing your thoughts and stealing your attention. The haze falls back around you, the jungle melting away, your thoughts melting away. Your head leans forward against your hands as her eyes draw you back to her. She asked so nicely for you to look at her, and her eyes are so beautiful and so stunning, so relaxing to stare, so easy to forget everything but her captivating eyes. Do you look at her? –21a Yes, just look at her, it’s so nice . . . -202 Yes, just look at her, it’s so nice . . . but, but only for a moment, she’s still trying to hypnotize you, but it’s okay if you just look for a little bit . . . (unfinished) -203 In fact, would it be so dangerous if you look, then look away so your head rises out of her fog, then look again, back and forth? Just little doses of those enchanting eyes can’t hurt. (unfinished) -204 Wait, what are you thinking? She’s trying to hypnotize you! Look away NOW! (coming soon!)

What started out as a nice day to collect some ingredients for her little shop turned into a nice relaxing vacation with @orkart.bsky.social's Astrea. Readying the blonde lamia to fall into cozy coils, all she needs is a single word "Fall".

In panel 2 we get a close-up of Elesia as the coils wrap around her neck and squeeze, forcing her to gulp. She looks up as her eyes start to fill with red, blue, and violet colors, while those colors ripple over the background. Third panel we see Anne and Enna from the front, Anne's eyes full of blue and violet rings and Enna's red and violet as they hypnotize Elesia. They're both smiling, Anne with a smug look while Enna laughs at how cute Elesia looks. They've each pulled an arm behind the other's back. The background is replaced with their hypnotic pulsing eye colors.

The bracket was randomized, by the way, I did NOT plan to have my most popular characters face in the first match, that's total HAPPENSTANCE.
They also make a good contrast, one kind and respectful of boundaries and one evil and erases boundaries. #hypnovember #lamia #naga #snake

I can't remember who I voted for, but I am glad Lila won this match. It helped keep the tournament from feeling like Jb would sweep the whole competition, especially since I felt like Lila did have some strong opponents later on.

Plus, it allowed for some great drama to unfold~

The move from "Who Would Win" to "Who Do You Prefer" was definitely a better choice in the long run, though I still personally think it's fun to have hypnotist doms that can be hypnotized.

I have theories about how Lila could know Jb is Jewelyn, but it's more interesting if it's never explained.

There's something sweet yet off-putting about Jb being hypnotized. It's nice to see her getting a chance to relax but it's such a rare position for her that it just *feels* like something's off, like there's an underhanded angle she's playing toward (like she played in Theft Divine with Twilight).

It's very interesting to hear you anticipated Jb winning this match, though with how she swept through the Loser's Bracket, I'm glad we did get to see more of her various hypnotic abilities... and she *does* have so many of them to choose from

I like the bit in introducing Jb to the tournament about sustaining her need for worship through the tournament by providing her with a priest to hypnotize. It's a very fun moment, and I love the visual of her getting someone devoted to a higher power to convert themself over to her wayssss~

Wren is very cute as always, though I do agree that having another subject that was into hypnosis could help liven things up, especially in some of these earlier matches.

Lila is best girl, though. No question. Love all her lyrics with her singing to Wren. Very jealous of their position in this.

The two of them were very popular, but decidedly removed from the larger world, so seeing their corners interact helped set the stage for what to expect going forward.

Plus, it showcased a core theme of whether your characters aim to please themselves or their subjects through hypnosis.

Gonna be taking this opportunity to leave my own thoughts on the Tournament since it was a pretty exciting bout of stories! Always liked seeing your cast interact with together, and this big event had plenty of that to go around.

Having Lila vs Jb in the opening match made for an exciting opening

Especially if BlueSky was able to implement the ability to compose multiple posts in a thread as part of the scheduling process like DAMN that would be nice.

The character tournament was a project I wrote for #Hypnovember 2023, though I didn't actually finish it until mid-January, 2 1/2 months of almost daily writing and posting. It was a big undertaking!
