He did salute a marine once while holding a mug of coffee, and that was clearly worse 🙄

Indeed. I’ve been thinking about him a lot, and how the bigotry narrative will change over time. There will be a day when they oppose the next gen of activists and will say without irony, “Why can’t these protesters be more like that nice young man we loved—Colin Kap.” Will be MLK all over again.

For real. Living with integrity comes at a cost. Good for him!

Good lord these authoritarians have a lot of emotional needs they offload onto strangers. The desperate need for admiration via a laugh is palpable.

Interesting. This morning I was wondering what his threats mean for secret service/FBI. Like, does FBI go knock on the door of the White House and tell the secret service to contain their guy? Half joking, but I work in psych and we get inquiries frm fed agencies when patients threaten gov officials

How about a farewell? I believe saying “farewell” was once a thing among theobros…

And the line between marketing and propaganda is…what? I’m leery of both, yet ideas do need to be communicated, often on a mass scale. Yet marketing is persuasion, and often involves conveying (at best) incomplete truth. This is where I lament humans not being rational creatures. I wish we were.

Oh interesting. I didn’t realize it was derogatory—or for Brooklynites in general. I thought it was a nickname for people who worked on the trolleys/serviced them, etc. I guess most nicknames from the past are demeaning…so I guess that makes sense.

What are we meant to think of the heroic Americans of Flight 93 on 9/11? They died refusing to be used by terrorists to destroy the White House (or US Capitol). So…that was valiant but this is…🤷🏻‍♀️

Raised fundamentalist Christian, seeing this tone policing is bizarre. Prior to college, I only heard the word “feminist” as a slur, and I can’t count the number of times it was equated with “baby killers.” So sure, call those who disagree with you a baby killer, but Nazi is over the line 🤔🙄

What’s up with youngsters typing in full sentences with punctuation? I thought only old people like me did that? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Heron perched on bare tree branches in a pond. Weeping willow and bushes reflected in the still water.

I could go for some serenity like this right about now 🤗🧘🏻🪷 #photography #birds #nature #PNW

Fair. I’ve been thinking about this all day. Time will tell whether the shooter was far left or far(ther) right. But the founder of a political org being murdered while he spoke at his own event? Ideology of the shooter doesn’t really matter in the framing of this as an assassination.

Will we ever find out what was discussed in the meeting during his first administration when Grassley & Feinstein were drained of all color and looked like they saw death itself? 🤞🏼

It’s like a man who beats his wife complaining that she once called him an ass. Yes, that sure did hurt his feelings. Can we focus more on his feelings please?

I know this is separate from your point, but do you have the capacity to see how silly you sound given the asymmetry of tactics for multiple generations? You seem like an intelligent man. This is bonkers.

So when Rs are in power, they’re meant to not just fill any open SCOTUS seat, it has to be the EXACT extremist they want? While Dems offer a moderate (Garland), he doesn’t get a vote at all, and a right-wing extremist gets the seat instead. Rs are the party of “heads I win, tails you lose” 🙄

Yup. Once I realized Republicans are widely treated like an abusive husband (given the benefit of the doubt, she was asking for it, etc) and Dems are treated like the abused wife (how dare she voice discontent! What did she do to make him hit her?) the punditry finally made sense to me.

They could have claimed it was a some kind of nutrient infusion to keep him “healthy and best able to serve the American people.” They’re not good at this.
