My quilt, “The Price of Democracy”, a statement about how some people used the price of eggs as an excuse not to vote for a woman president in the year 2024, knowing that the other choice would try to destroy democracy here and abroad.

Cold War Military Slides A reporter stumbled upon a treasure trove of Department of Defense slides from the 1970s and 1980s depicting data from missile systems, Soviet capabilities and America’s nuclear arsenal.

"The boxes were filled with hundreds of 35mm slides from the Dept of Defense [that] appear to be from the height of the Cold War... They are the perfect inverse of contemporary Pentagon graphic design in all its sprawling insanity, permanently poisoned by the vernacular of PowerPoint and clip art.”

Long-time listener & journalism prof here.

You are a usually thoughtful journalist but you—& the CBC—cannot be a neutral / objective gatherer of reactions.

On this you must have a point of view. Journalism scholars call it “mature subjectivity,” a professional obligation.

The Women Weavers of the Little Loomhouse How did three humble cabins in an old oak forest in Kentucky in 1898 evolve into a thriving textile arts community today?

"How did three board-and-batten cabins in the remnants of an old oak forest in South Louisville, Kentucky evolve from a refuge for female creatives in 1898 into a thriving textile arts community today? The tale of the women of the Little Loomhouse is one of strength, connections, + perseverance."

All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
