And that, my friends, is a pretty damning commentary on how truly fucked up Biden's foreign policy actually was. To the point that we may get something better from Trump by default. Such as a nuclear deal with Iran.

The problem for Trump is that Biden copied, extended and elaborated so many of Trump's own policies in his first term, particularly with regard to the middle east, that destroying Biden's legacy means undermining his OWN.
08.06.2025 15:57 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Trump's instinct and desire is to do the opposite of Biden just as his previous instinct in his first term was to do the opposite of Obama. And thereby to destroy his predecessors' legacy.
08.06.2025 15:57 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0That makes sense as far as it goes, but there's another explanation which is more ironic, humorous and revealing. And that is that Biden copied and continued so many of Trump's policies that I think Trump is confused.
08.06.2025 15:57 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0There are various theories for Trump's rudderlessness on foreign policy issues such as Iran, China and even Israel. But most of them tend to focus on Trump's own inherent inconsistency and irrationality.🧵

Hopefully they can take a tip from the 1994 Knicks, who succeeded at the exact same thing

The only issue is the sound is not great. But if you click the "cc" button you get automatically generated subtitles which are actually ok

A perfect metaphor for how well Trump has thought this all through
16.04.2025 19:36 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0In confronting China, Trump thinks he's Reagan confronting the Soviet Union in the 1980s.
But the right analogy is Britain confronting the US in the 1950s: Imperial arrogance aplenty, but you're overextended and outmoded.
And a direct confrontation will only speed the inevitable.
Trump has us all enrolled in the most expensive Econ 101 class ever

Trump voters, Nov 2024: Damn right! He understands us!
Trump, April 2025: Americans don't care about high prices!

Except he's attacking the stock market instead of the Soviet Union.
And it's a solo flight:
Kamikaze economics
heavyweight tires, and requires lots of extra energy to get around.
Thus entirely defeating the environmental point of buying an electric car.
But that's probably not why you're buying a BMW anyway
Wow the new electric BMW has a range of 701km!*
*A battery that big and heavy means an immense burden on rare natural resources, many of them obtained through slave labor. It also means a car so heavy that it tears up the road and goes quickly through specially required, heavily polluting
What's going on in Gaza is simple.
It's only "complicated" if you can't acknowledge your own racism.

A very enlightening discussion of Shiori Ito's explosive documentary "Black Box Diaries" and its complex reception in Japan, coauthored by my friend/colleague Chelsea Szendi Schieder
For me, for soul and funk and even hiphop, A Whole New Thing is on a par with what Are You Experienced and yes, Sgt. Pepper's (along with Captain Beefheart's lesser known first effort, Safe As Milk all 1967) were for rock.
Above just one example. Song number 6. Just imagine...
This is Sly Stone we're talking about. His first album with the Family Stone. It's 1967. How likely is it that he made a dud album?
