Is Book Life the Broke Life? The author who turned to sex work and the $30,000 Bestseller

Committing full time to the author life looks more like Rent than Industry. It’s more like an actor’s life than a tech bro. But it’s not all doom & gloom. Some people have cracked the code on making money & in unexpected ways. #writing

I get almost as many comments about how ugly or fat I am on my workout posts as I did on my posts before I started lifting. I’m not asking for sympathy. I just want to remind Black women that the point isn’t if we are pretty or skinny or not. The point is they want us to not exist.🙄

You know they will and the line would get murkier and murkier on what is considered "explicit" or objectionable.

I see where you're going, but it makes it hard to hold your personal Congressman accountable and corporations could just buy anyone off. Unless we had a ban on lobbying I don't think it would help much.

My Congressman is 80. Retirement age is 65. Now I'm not saying we don't need older people in Congress because they need representation too, but just sitting and taking up space? No.

The American Library Association strongly denounces new federal book banning legislation proposed in Congress. Call your Reps. Tell them to oppose H.R. 7661. Capitol switchboard: 202-224-3121

American Library Association, Show Up For Our Libraries "Parents, not politicians, should guide their children’s reading. In our school, campus, and public libraries, materials are selected by trained literacy professionals who understand child development and community needs. Their work is grounded in one clear purpose: helping young people become lifelong readers.

H.R. 7661 isn’t fundamentally about protecting kids. It’s about giving politicians broad authority to restrict whose stories are allowed on the shelves. That should concern anyone who believes in the freedom to read and the right of families to make decisions for themselves.” - ALA President Sam Helmick "Rather than targeting librarians and teachers, Congress should invest in them. The Right to Read Act offers a better path, supporting well-staffed and well-resourced school libraries, strengthening evidence-based literacy instruction, and protecting the dedicated professionals who help young people discover books that open doors and expand horizons.

When we trust families, support educators, and protect the freedom to read, our young people thrive.” - ALA President Sam Helmick.

NEW: ALA strongly denounces new federal book banning legislation introduced in Congress, HR 7661.

As ALA President Sam Helmick said, "Parents, not politicians, should guide their children's reading." Call your Rep and tell them to oppose this new bill.

I get really irritated with Congressmen who just sit and vote with the party line. We need term limits, because I need ACTION behind some of these bills.

A Nationwide Book Ban Bill Has Been Introduced in the House of Representatives Hours after the State of the Union address, House republicans introduced legislation banning LGBTQ+ books from public schools nationwide.

🚨NATIONWIDE BOOK BAN ALERT

Whenever the administration takes a loss (like in the supreme court for tariffs) they go for low hanging fruit and book banning is a favorite.

Call and Email your Congressman to keep their hands off school and library funding.

The Disappearance of Young Adult Books and Services in Public Libraries: Book Censorship News, February 20, 2026 Teen collections in public libraries are disappearing. So, too, are professionals dedicated to serving this demographic.

"Wyoming legislators have on their docket this session a bill that would effectively dismantle YA sections in public libraries. It follows the same patterns seen in South Carolina."

Y'all focus too much on the presidency & let local elections go to pot.

White Jesus, Black Demons and Old Time Religion How did we go from civil rights marches to denouncing Blackness?

How is it that in 2026, the Black church, which has a history of fighting for equality and social justice since enslavement to Civil Rights, now calling for Black people to denounce their Blackness in favor of their Christian-ness (as if the two could be separated)?
