Context matters too. Minority adolescents tend to align more with ethnic emotions at home. However, they align more with majority emotions when interacting with majority-culture friends or using the majority language.

Friends! Friends act as โambassadorsโ of culturally typical emotions. When minority adolescents have majority friends, theyโre more likely to have higher emotional fit with the majority culture.
