Some of it is understandable like for the situations where they used real castles for exteriors but casterly rock was cgi so it’s one of those situations where it makes no sense not to try and at least be somewhat book accurate since you’re already spending the money for CGI

casterly rock is supposed to be this castle carved into mountain
only a single separate structure on top, a tower for the library but everything else was carved into the mountain itself through an old cave network but the show was just like nah a boring normal castle on top of a small lil mountain

It is kinda wild to go back and look at some of the visuals for game of thrones and see how wrong they all were
I think folks kinda just let it pass bc the first 4 seasons were good but like none of the visuals are actually accurate to the books

While a knight of the seven kingdoms is definitely the best of the game of thrones adjacent shows in both adaptation and story some of the costuming decisions are weird to me
Like Aerion having the classic targ fit & sigil instead of his bright ass orange and yellows etc to mimic fire

Martin going with that spelling was an aesthetic choice though
English was a lot more “spell stuff kinda based on vibes” prior to the late early modern period tbh so stuff would often have multiple common spellings

The dame thing is honestly more of a British monarchical invention rather than rooted in any deep history of knights iirc
