The baby shark circles back to the camera and uses their mouth to understand what the object is

Another baby shark of a different species comes from the left towards the camera and bumps it. It's difficult to ID the species from this clip (this was originally a video) but this looks like a grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos)

Sharks don't have hands like we do so they will use their mouths or boop the object with their nose when they're curious!

They are deep sea sharks often found in depths of 100 m/368 ft or more.
But they will also swim close to the surface to feed

One way that you can tell a shark scientist from a non-expert enthusiast in online discussions is that the non-expert enthusiasts will say things like "Look at that Galeocerdo cuvier! " and professional shark scientists will say "that stripey boi is chonky!"

These sharks have a pretty cool defense mechanism. When threatened they swim quickly into a small crevice and start pumping water to swell up like a balloon. They then curve into a "U" shape and take their tails into their mouths...🧵

I love how diverse catsharks are. The catshark family has more than 150 species!

It's sad that these sharks are not as "popular" to many people. I believe they are very fascinating
