Youth Sports Are a $40 Billion Business. Private Equity Is Taking Notice.

Private equity is “taking notice.”

In my county, travel ball seem to be a lot of rich parents trying to live through their children; most of these kids burn out by high school.

Thankfully we have rec options that are much more chill www.nytimes.com/2025/07/09/b...

Depends on where you live and how old your children are. Plenty of great outside options in many parts of the country.

as Ann Pachet of @parnassusbooks.bsky.social wrote this is “a manual for decency and kindness.” Very much needed. Father Strobel is missed.

“Everyone is born a poet - a person discovering the way words sound and work, caring and delighting in words. I just kept doing what everyone starts out doing. The real question is: Why did other people stop.” - William Stafford

What’s the goal? Probably not the best way to train for a fast 10K, but seems like it would be close enough for just general health.

I only remember seeing a small handful (4 or 5?) but it’s possible more went straight to my judge.

I did a Delaware Court of Chancery clerkship and scholarly blogs were our main gateway to legal scholarship. We’d sometimes read reprints, but mostly if from a scholar we already knew of and respected.

There are things that are good for students beyond increased test scores, yes?

Haven’t read what I’d consider a 5 star book this year but really liked Wendell Berry’s Remembering and Claire Keegan’s So Late in the Day (though I like her Small Things Like These, which I read more than a year ago, better)

We’ve got a number of the same books I think.

It’s your general account @bookshop-org.bsky.social that has few followers. This UK one has ~10x more.

Ran this little loop most mornings in 2023. Going to be revisiting it a lot in 2024 hopefully.

I refuse to see the movie. Have my own film in my head from the book.

I haven’t. I imagine they are all $$. I just get spammed by a few of them. CoCounsel is the one with the most ads.
