Cape Breton and the Cabot trail is always a great ride. This year I parked the bike a few times to get closer to nature and history. Bras d'Or Lake offers some great bird watching, while Louisbourg offered an interactive glimpse of the Acadian past.

I was reminded yesterday of life on a Serengeti safari. You spend 10 - 12 hours in a Land Cruiser photographing amazing animals. When you get to the Urts you're handed a hot towel, a fresh juice and asked about every animal you've seen, when all you want to do is pee.

I rode around Newfoundland for 10 days last fall and got wet at least once a day. On my last day, the sun came out and I found a perfect spot to hang everything in the sun along the shore of Deer Lake. Arrived at the ferry to leave dry for the first time in days.

Left hand pulls the clutch in, left foot drops a gear lower while the right hand matches revs. Push the bars to the left, the bike falls right and leans into the corner. Slight tail brake and slight acceleration as you sight the exit. Repeat often.

Counted 13 between Lunenburg and Truro. Nova Scotia is full of fun roads but a few too many tourists to make stopping enjoyable.

Lunenburg was nice but the waterfront enchanted me.

It is worse than they are telling you. This is a collection of tents over top of cages in a hurricane belt. And they've cut funding for hurricane watch. It's like putting a babies crib in the middle of an interstate. There will be deaths, and they know there will be deaths.

It is possible to take pictures by driving around stopping to park and look for a shot. But on a bike I see more, I am aware of the spaces I ride through.
