💭 On Howe, as much as I see the issues we’re facing. The main issue I see with moving on from him is there are no good replacements

Has his limitations but still a very good manager, a lot of fans assuming the grass is greener #nufc

Bruno is not the issue with the midfield. He’s the only technician in a workhorse group. We need more like him.

Currently all of our CMs work best running into space. But no one to find them/fill the space they leave.

Tonali is a good mix of physical and technical but need a creator next to them

To me it’s very obvious the lack of Signings wasn’t a PSR issue (bid 75mil for Guehi), but a problem caused by the change in hierarchy…

The plan changed and the people making decisions changed which meant nothing was done. Fully expect that to change with Mitchell and time

I’ve come to the conclusion this is probably his ceiling. The lack of signings has stunted a lot of growth.

There’s not really even been an attempt to develop the play style to help, which makes me think he’s not capable. Don’t see a point in sacking him mid season, but think it’s the end

We all knew it would get to a point where teams sit off us, we’re here and there’s no solutions.

Individual quality is the obvious way to change that, but there’s no patterns to play

Replacing Howe probably doesn’t mean we finish any higher.

However I think it’s a long goodbye.

Crosses from the touchline being our main way to break down a low block isn’t a good look and there’s been 3 years to develop something new #nufc

We always knew teams would eventually allow us more possession.

Unfortunately the style hasn’t developed to match this. This is why it was always unsustainable.

Tonali and Barnes were bought for these games. Ball striking and added technical quality, adding a ceiling to the team without them

I don’t see this group having any confidence of breaking teams down in games like this.

These games are what Howe will be judged on and he’s not helping himself

The CBs too, why are they suddenly so passive all the time?

Thought we’d seen the last of it when Pope came back, feels like it’s instructed at this point #nufc

Barnes + Tonali were bought for games exactly like this.

Ball striking and technical quality. Both need to start regardless of form of others. #nufc

It’s coincidental for me that Longstaff has played and we win. Tonali can comfortably do everything Longstaff does + have added quality on the ball.

No doubt to me he’ll be a huge upgrade in that position, just time and it’ll work

Really don’t think it matters where they all start, all very versatile so depending on performance or needs they’ll rotate

Moving to Leaves or similar location is fine and I don’t see anyone objecting to it. Moving it out the city is a big no for me.

Can’t see any benefits to moving away. Grow where we are or upgrade what we have for me

Lot of people talk about us needing to be “ruthless” by getting rid of the likes of Longstaff… this is where we need to do better

Got to transition away from them either way really, it’s not sustainable long term.

Tonali can do that Longstaff role, tbh I think it’s more coincidental that we’ve won with Longstaff in than because he’s key

Hard to tell if a lot of these players can play possession football still

Read your newsletter and I’ve got the feeling he’s gone back to what previously worked (even with playing direct to J7 on the wing).

If we want to stick to the possession style we have to improve the build up patterns, but stale against low block teams imo

For me Howes gone back to what he knows, the double Joe left, bit more direct at times too.

Hall is a big improvement in build up too, but same questions are there for the long term.
