Tiny little channel update: I'm bringing back the old overlay (with a couple of modifications).

I tried out the new one for ~6 months to see if it made any positive impact, and it didn't.

Everything's slowly going to go back to Museo, with the softer colour palette.

I've been using the same intro style on my videos ever since day one, but I think they're getting a little bit stale.

So, I'm experimenting with a new type of opening. Here's an upcoming video with both the old and new style, so you can see the difference it makes!

Friday marks the beginning of a new chapter for the channel.

We're not saying goodbye to "Classic" Solo Running entirely, but we are embarking on a new, harder challenge - the SuperMON challenge.

One Pokémon, 4 moves, and zero resets, and it's level capped.

Gengar's up first.

Our next stream together is going to be slightly different than normal.

We are going to be piloting our first Gym Leader challenge.

The first part of the stream will be yapping and figuring out rules, then we will text out the ruleset to see what changes we might need to make.

Unfortunately, my immune system has let me down again, and I've managed to catch Covid. My partner and I have just both tested positive.

I am desperately trying to find a more consistent answer to Red for slower Pokémon. Especially physical attackers.

There are several runs where the Pokémon is on a fantastic pace up until Red, then they play the RNG game until finally getting lucky.

I'm live playing Cinccino only in Pokémon Crystal!

I am very pleased to say that all of October's Challenge Run videos are now rendering - we have 13 Challenge Runs together throughout October, including some Pokémon who could sit at the very top of the leaderboard!

Big progress has been made with the pre recorded videos today. 5/12 edits for October are done and I've coded the remaining backports for the year.

I'm hoping to have all of the 2025 challenge runs recorded by the end of October so I can hibernate for winter.

It's a very, very minute detail, and something that most people won't notice. I'm bringing back the custom backgrounds for each Pokémon's thumbnail

I fell out of the habit of it when I started focusing on backports, as they shared a common background but they're included now

I've got another line to add to the backport collection - the Vespiquen line!

This one is likely gonna be very tricky when it gets its run. Combee isn't built for battling, and loses its speed upon evolving into Vespiquen!

Fun fact: You can't get a legit Gen 2 shiny Vespiquen!

I'm already stressing about the first challenge I'm recording tomorrow. It's a redo of a very, very strong Pokémon, and I really want to PB with it.

I'm currently playing very well, but the routing I'll need to take to get a PB requires a few risky battles.

Only time will tell whether I succeed.

Another Gen III backport can be crossed off the list!

This time, in the form of the Aggron line. It's been hotly requested, so I'm very glad to get it done.

It's a physical powerhouse, which will be great, right up until Red.

Steel would be brilliant for inverse battles in Gen 2 if Gen 2 Steel types held up well in a solo format! Even Scizor, which is the best of those, is outclassed by its pre-evo!

Out of all them, Ice is the most fun I've had - it's strange seeing an offensive powerhouse type become VERY defensive.

We can add another Gen III line to the completed backport list.

This time it's the turn of Baltoy and Claydol.

I've never really had much exposure to these lines, so I'm very interested in seeing how they play at some point!

I'm in the same situation with Crystal - I've had inverse battles coded in for about a year, but when I've piloted the concept, it falls flat.

I don't think it's an issue with the idea, though. I reckon if you frame it correctly and with the right Pokémon, it could work very well.

I've just re-backported Dudnsparce after 18 months.

I love seeing the difference in learnsets when I bring a backport up to date - it's a real indicator of how much more skilled I've become with the Gen 2 code.

The original learnset was good for its day, but I think I prefer the new one :D
