There are some good #NavalHistory photos in here. CAPT James Buchanan, RAN, was in charge of one of the three Allied naval brigades that first went ashore in Japan after the surrender, and was the first Australian to enter Japan after the armistice, on (I think) 30 Aug 1945.

Very productive morning working in the @AWMemorial’s new reading room this morning 🪶 📖 The new Charles Bean Research Centre is now open. The facilities are incredible, the views are beautiful & the staff are always knowledgeable. I’ve already picked out “my” research desk 😏
