03.03.2026 12:45 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Congrats to npmx on their launch day! π₯³And for not only building an incredibly useful browser, but for all the thought they have put into to building a welcoming and healthy community! Inspiring π
03.03.2026 12:43 β π 12 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0I like this! It formalises social norms around reciprocation, and while I don't know how you could legally determine if someone has 'understood and carefully weighed' their decision to ignore point 3, point 4 at least makes them have to fess up to it publicly, so there's some accountability π₯³
26.02.2026 23:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I like this summer holiday idea! For sure let's chat and compare notes, I'd love to hear about your experiencesβI'll send a dm. I also just joined the npmx discord, it'd be great to meet more people interested in this!
25.02.2026 11:45 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Such a good article! I think the fact that you going on holiday makes the news says something really poignant about OSS work culture and what is expected of maintainers. npmx is setting such a powerful example by publicly taking a break!

Super interesting research on the effect of different approaches to AI use during learning: worse understanding when relying on Claude to tell us what to do than when making and solving our own mistakes.

Can you help me make a list of people/orgs working on problems that cause burnout in OSS to share at FOSDEM?
Looking for work on: OSS advocacy, OSS value metrics, payment and governance models, dependencies research, community events/spaces, mentor schemes, codes of conduct, AI attestation & more!
Stoked to learn as a bird fan and ideology researcher that female birdsong is widespread, this was overlooked for centuries as most research happened in the Northern hemisphere + work on female birdsong is more likely to be done by women! Researcher diversity -> richer, less biased bird knowledge! π¦

24.11.2025 22:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hi Klaus, thanks so much for sharing the report around, I hope it can be helpful! I'm always open for feedback if you or anyone in your communties have thoughtsβthis is such an important and multi-faceted topic and I really care to ensure devs' experiences are well-represented!

I've finished my report on burnout in OSS and how to reduce it! Read more (and find the link to the full report) on the Open Source Pledge blog!
Huge thanks to all the OSS devs who shared their perspectives π Let's keep shining a light on this under-recognised issue!
I hear you! Thanks so much for your input!
25.10.2025 11:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Right, I understand--it's more a matter of economic necessity! Do you think you would choose to continue releasing new versions/supporting OSS under a system like UBI? I'm really curious to hear people's thoughts about the best system for compensating OSS devs, there's so much to consider!
25.10.2025 11:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My goodness! How must that make you feel? Is the lack of donations part of why you decided to stop releasing new versions?
25.10.2025 10:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on both of these things! I don't seem to be able to DM you, are you able to DM me or chuck me an email? (Email address is in here mirandaheath.website/report-on-bu...)
27.09.2025 13:29 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks so much for taking a look! I would love to hear your perspective as a so-far-burnout-avoider when you have some time--just DM me! π
17.09.2025 08:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks for taking a look at the report, and for sharing your story, it was insightful to read! "Whatever constitutes low rewards to you is what fuels burnout"--this came up a lot in my research!
17.09.2025 08:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks Josh! Really good to know it is hitting the right notes!
16.09.2025 13:12 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0(heads up, sent an email instead as apparently I can't DM you on here)
15.09.2025 14:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks for reading it and giving your views, I'm happy to learn it feels like a good summary! Shall DM now..
