I still jolt awake from being hit with broom sticks and other random objects cause I didn’t wake up fast enough or the first time to get ready for school. I’m about to be 32. There is not “recovery” some things you just live with but you never forget how it got there.

I would get things thrown at me or hit so now I can’t even put on noise canceling headphones unless I’m facing an open space just to be ultra aware of my surroundings. All just to do some dumb shit like pass a remote or flip a light switch cause they didn’t wanna get up 🙃

I’m a soon to be 32 year old adult and I still have PTSD from my parents yelling at me when I was in my room with headphones on (trying to destress FROM all the yelling) I’ll be listening to music too loud at my grown age and swear I hear a yell and pull a headphone out.
