Gundam Mk-II poster by Syd Mead. This was commissioned by Sunrise during the Zeta era, and it was also when Mead and Tomino became acquainted in person. Zeta Gundam was Mead's first exposure to Gundam.

One of the most famous images is the AT-ATs. Concept artist Joe Johnstone came up with the idea based on designs that Syd Mead (Blade Runner concept artist) had done for US Steel. And from that, Joe Johnstone designed the look of the AT-ATs.

Syd Mead: "The main lift unit is positioned toward the rear of the body, underneath the vehicle’s center of gravity, maybe a little aft. The propulsion theory also incorporated additional lift vents in the front of the body which were fed by venturi tubes from the mam turbine."
