I love my clothesline. It links me to a slower paced time, to my mother, my grandmother, and to people all over the world and throughout time. It reminds me of our commonalities even while our differences are vast.

I run a retreat center here. The group that was supposed to come this weekend just cancelled. They are afraid to leave their homes due to their brown skin. Their leader said they are afraid to leave even to go to church, work, or school.

I am in downtown Los Angeles right now and it is completely surreal to hear that Trump is sending Marines here. We are listening to mariachi music. People have dogs. There are teenagers here. It is utterly and completely peaceful. Please tell your friends.
