Take that back apparently Manjaro let their SSL certificates expire again and this led me to go back to vanilla Arch

I have no issue with Manjaro it's really only the team I have issues with when it comes to questionable practices especially since they aren't learning from their past mistakes

Cannot wait and interesting enough after I just installed and moved to Manjaro in a VM as I got tired of vanilla Arch breaking my packages they have now moved to 6.18 for the latest LTS (6.19 for the default kernel) and funny enough vanilla Arch is still on 6.18 and 6.12 LTS

For those asking about the optional update for those in the Canary channel

It is 27H2 for Windows 11 as confirmed as the next feature update after 26H2
Remember that with Canary these are experimental builds that focus on what's ahead for Windows in the distant future

I mean the EoL for 7/8.1 makes sense as it's really starting to get hard for Mozilla to maintain due to AI in newer versions of FF plus both OSes being out of support for years now

RIP (2009-2026)

Mozilla recently dropped support for Firefox 115 ESR, last version to work under Windows 7 and 8.x.

If you need to still use Firefox in Win7/8...

This Firefox fork brings support of modern Firefox versions to Windows 7 and 8.x, including Windows Vista!

Here we go again with Microsoft making things confusing with the vague language on their blog post

This is also one of the reasons I left the program completely back around 2020 when I got my Covid era laptop because it was starting to make a downfall in terms of direction

Really hope others can do the same

As for me I moved over to Gitlab and now Codeberg as I'm really tired of Microsoft attempting to shove CoPilot into everyone's faces even on Github like at this point they are achieving nothing but annoying their users with it

And yes as snaps are controversial this is why I removed them and replace them with Flatpaks

As I am now using Ubuntu along with Arch and Fedora 2 things to keep in mind

1. I do not hate the distro it's only the direction I do not like from Canonical
2. I did remove some of the snaps including Thunderbird and replaced them with the Flatpak versions

Honestly when I use Linux in VMs with UEFI enabled I've always preferred GRUB because systemd is still really confusing

Honestly at this point the decade has become nothing but a meme in the tech industry

Plasma 6.6 is nearly ready for shipping! Look out for it next Tuesday.

... And videos in Plasma 6.7's SDDM login screens can be previewed in System Settings, KWin dialogs have been overhauled and polished, and much more.

You know it's funny how people think Arch and Manjaro are the same distros when in reality it isn't

The difference is that Manjaro is Arch but with stability while vanilla Arch is upstream and unstable

Yes it's still technically maintained but otherwise it is outdated for a display server that's why Wayland was created in 2008 and is becoming the modern standard and replacement for X11

12.02.2026 11:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And I'm sure most of you know why X11 is being dropped because one nobody is really contributing nor working on it anymore and secondly it's because of the old architecture since it was developed in the 1980s and for this reason it cannot support modern technologies

12.02.2026 11:14 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 1

It would make sense especially for Wayland support as Cinnamon has still yet to switch over from X11 along with the Xfce DE

Like GNOME which is my other DE that I use on Linux has since switched to Wayland but will drop X11 completely in GNOME 50

Glad to see Apple gearing up to celebrate their half century because like Microsoft they also changed the world for the PC during the PC revolution in the 70s/80s (and also later the cell phone in 2007 with the first ever smartphone the iPhone) only difference was they were on the hardware side
