It's not too long, do read... but the key takeaway despite two chastening defeats for #dcfc is: "Don't panic" 😅

The current Walk of Fame list is dominated by white players and managers. A good way for #dcfc to respond to this furore would be to ensure that, when it's expanded, the group of Rams heroes who are added is much more diverse. It's not as if we haven't had loads of brilliant black players, after all

#dcfc under Mr Clowes is truly a family club, where everyone is welcome. There's no doubt that racism has no place at Pride Park.

But they have dropped a bollock here, and it's right for it to be brought up, even if it's patently ludicrous that the messenger here is a rag as godawful as the Mail.

Somebody at #dcfc should have raised a red flag when Eranio's name came up on the list of potential additions to the Walk of Fame. He is one of the best players to wear the Ram in my lifetime. But what he said was revolting, and it should have been a disqualifying factor when this list was compiled.

I was under the impression that the Mail despises 'cancel culture' and considers any move to censor speech as unacceptably 'woke'. This is a newspaper which pumps anti-migrant, race-baiting toxins into the British environment every day. There is a savage irony to their publishing this piece.

But.

I had to go and remind myself of what the comments were. They were shocking, and Eranio only dug himself deeper into a mirky hole when he tried to clarify what he meant...

The Daily Mail recently posted an article criticising #dcfc for including Stefano Eranio on its new Walk of Fame. I haven't read the piece because I hate the Daily Mail. However, the accompanying post from journo Matt Barlow explained that it was prompted by racist comments Eranio made on Italian TV

Yeah, I found that bizarre. Players on the bench who had done an hour or more v WBA, but aren't ready to come on as subs? Made no sense.

I'd say in his defence, he adapted pretty quickly after #dcfc got walloped at QPR In his first game. He will make changes for the next game, I'm sure of that.

This was always going to be a tough game for #dcfc against a talented Cov. But I can't understand why Eustace didn't use his bench until it was too late. Players flagging, eg Nyambe, who was also on a 🟨 against Mason-Clark.

Eust has got most things right at Derby, but that was poor game management

Eustace has been very keen to stress that the early part of this season is going to be a challenge, due to his long list of absentees. Coventry first up. Then Bristol City, Ipswich, West Brom... The Championship is unforgiving.

The speed of Eustace's #dcfc rebuild is going to be impacted by the process of moving Paul Warne's signings on. It's not going to be easy to shift players who'd struggle to get another gig at this level when they're on good contracts.

Ward, Elder, Osborn, Jackson are all out of contract next summer

The next two home games are going to be tough ones for #dcfc. Cov and Bristol City were last season's beaten play-off semi-finallists, and would provide a stern test even if everyone was fit.

Derby will have to rediscover the kind of mettle they displayed during the Great Escape to win these games

Seems that Clark and Brewster (once fit) are considered options there - be good to get another one in, if possible... One loan spot to play with.

Word that #dcfc are set to sign Bobby Clark on loan from RB Salzburg, plus talks over defenders Alfie Gilchrist and Max Johnston, add to the sense of excitement about the signings Derby have already made.

The start of the season might be rocky due to injuries, but the Rams are on their way back 💪
