Spears were a favourite weapon in the Imperial era’s “tunnel-and-dungeon” warfare period, when multiple spears could be thrust past whoever was unfortunate enough to be at the head of the mining column.

Longswords are rarely used as a primary weapon among questing adventurers, due to their less reliable stopping power against monsters. However, they make a strong and intimidating statement against bandits and bad guys.

A common tactic among urban adventurers is to not carry weapons at all, relying entirely on whatever furniture and cutlery is nearby. It’s easier to feign innocence when the town guards burst in to break up a fight when you don’t have a dedicated killing weapon in hand.

Magic staffs have a black orb, known as a compensator, that absorbs and refracts poorly-cast spells, creating successful spells at the cost of orb integrity. It’s this part of the staff that explodes violently after one too many mis-gestured incantations.

After saving a city from a dragon, Fighter & Bard opened a smoke lounge in the city, and remained fast friends for decades, until he slipped on a pier calling after the local oyster girl. Bard wrote a song about it, which became a tavern favourite after the lyrics were changed to have more genitals.
