Magic-Wizards just contained maybe the worst minute of basketball I've seen in a Wizards game this week, which is saying something
Good medical advice!
The data economy has made us dumber in ways that also make us vulnerable to authoritarian takover. We are have become both cynical and gullible in the sense we think we are too jaded be fooled and as a result are tricked more easily www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
SCOOP — Body camera footage obtained as a result of my lawsuit against the DC Metropolitan PD confirms DOGE and the Trump administration openly admitted they were entering private property when they raided the building on March 17, 2025. That didn't stop MPD from breaking down the doors.

part of the reason I use sports analogies so often is because it's a ready made context where people aim to understand how competition and contest works unlike politics, where certain people forget or giddily pretend not to understand how competition/contest works
Wrote about the US government following the tradition of dehumanizing their enemies as barbarians to justify their violence but also how it sells its constant violence to Americans by convincing Americans that they’re the only real human beings

Signed up for the updates that Marco Rubio was promoting for Americans stuck in the Middle East, to see what steps were being taken to get them out. And it’s no joke that there’s no plan. For example, this is what you get if you’re in Bahrain:
The second set of screenshots are from an old draft of my soccer book. I’ve been screaming into a void for almost a decade now, but glad that at least running is taking this sport seriously as an art.
This is horrifically cruel. “A Haitian asylum seeker held for four months at Florence Correctional Center died Monday at a Scottsdale hospital due to complications from an infected tooth, a local official in Chandler said Tuesday.” An excruciating and wholly preventable death. No words are adequate.
This sounds silly but it is the emotional core of maga. You don’t like me? Obviously some vast conspiracy is responsible bsky.app/profile/ster...

If you’re still carrying the torch for the Democrats or spending your time defending them, please, I beg you, look around.
They’re saying they agree with this illegal war, they just demand the privilege to make it legal.
This isn’t opposition. This isn’t capitulation. This is cooperation.
Not sure what else is left to say. All I’ve known for my whole life is most powerful country in the world and its satellite states killing as they please around the world to no consequence. And this ability to kill and oppress worldwide is the supposed testament to their greatness.
We’re at war for a lot of dumb reasons but one of the biggest is because the president is a stupid man who takes instruction from his friends inside the tv box www.mediamatters.org/brian-kilmea...
The Washington Post's description of the bodycam video of his arrest last year, and the translation of Mr. Shah Alam's comments, is gutting. Remember, he was entirely blind in one eye and could only see three feet in the other, and he spoke virtually no English.
He spent a year in jail for this.
I’m not sure we can donate to small independent media our way out of the reality that the media and arts landscapes are controlled by an authoritarian and his friends. I’m as supportive as anyone else but this seems like a critical problem that goes beyond that.
Something that's being overlooked: The Saudi government—yes, the same gov't that butchered a Washington Post journalist a few years ago—is set to be a part owner of CNN.

We’re seriously at the point where you can’t look past what supposed leaders are doing or what they’ve capitulated on or who they’ve failed to stand up for.
If you fail this ethical and moral test you are not fit to serve and shouldn’t be trusted with power.
It's rich that David "Axis of Evil" Frum gets to comment on any president's State of the Union on any platform.
But that's the nature of this thing. It doesn't matter what evil you do, what you get wrong, if you're part of the club and a friend of power the game goes on and on and on.
I wrote about Alysa Liu and how refreshing it is to see an athlete who enjoys what they do as an art and self-expression in the landscape of sports where being a great athlete is always presented as a miserable and joyless exercise flaminghydra.com/issue-509/?a...
