Like the fact is that not only is health largely in the eye of the beholder (think about how soda vs coffee beverages are perceived or a caprese sandwich vs pizza) but foods are such a deep part of ourselves, upbringings, and the cultures we come from - it’s not trivial.

Like even if it were the case that some of these foods were objectively awful and never should be consumed (which obviously is not) - these people would NEVER tolerate you talking about their foods or accept you suggesting to never eat them in the same way.

But really I could talk about this for ages - there is so much snobbery and classist and/or racist shit caught up in the discourse around food and which foods get labeled unhealthy. The way in which wealthier people (white esp) are so casually dismissive of foods they didn’t grow up eating.
