The art you produce is absolute incredible! You are doing yourself a disservice. Your style and the way you draw things is just brilliant to be honest :)
You are on the level of those you comission in the eyes of many of us :)
A stylized muscular red furred minotaur with glowing eyes glaring at you.
Tried getting back to doing something creative after so damn long. Started in my comfort zone of low poly 3D. Enjoy this beefy Minotaur.

2 hours north on the coast yesterday was a world of difference.

10 years since I got glandular fever and my world changed.
Today I finally got to spend some time just floating in the sea. The first time in a decade. It won't be this long again.

11.07.2025 09:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0We don't know if we can restart them by undoing the damage done to the climate, or how long it would take to restart (it wouldn't be instant and best guesses are decades - centuries)
This is why we need to act on climate change now. We are already in uncharted waters.
#ClimateChange #Oceans
What happens at one, will have global impacts on the rest of the system.
This is an absolutely crucial tipping point in climate change. One that we may not be able to come back from. We do not know exactly what will happen as the currents weaken and eventually stop.
This results in the formation of a positive feedback loop, which we are starting to see the signs of. This will accelerate the destabilisation of the SMOC.
The SMOC and the AMOC are actually connected as part of the global thermohaline circulation system.
The salt water holds onto more heat instead of transporting it down to the deep ocean.
It means the carbon (locked in plankton) isn't transported to the deep ocean as effectively, which slowls the removal of carbon from the atmosphere which enhances greenhouse gas build up.
Fresh water isn't freezing out of the sea water as much, so there is less of density change to cause the saltier water to sink.
This increase in salinity of the polar water makes sea ice harder to form, which results in a darker surface to the ocean which absorbs more heat.
The water around Antarctica is getting saltier despite the influx of fresh water from melting sea ice and glacial meltwater.
What does this mean in terms of the SMOC and the climate change? It indicates that the stratification and flow of the SMOC is starting to break down.
Saltier water has a lower freezing point than fresher water, and holds more heat that fresh water too. Both of these are bad for the formation of sea ice.
In a study published in PNAS on the 30th June 2025, it was found that the SMOC is showing signs of destabilising. This is a dire situation.
There is the Southern Meridional Overturning Current (SMOC). This is where things get a bit more dire.
From looking at the AMOC we know that we need the warmer salty water to sink and fresher (less saline) water to sit at the surface.
This is a very finely balanced system. Fresh water getting back into the system does destabilise the entire process and slows the AMOC down and weakens the stratification that helps keep everything flowing and working.
What most people don't know is the AMOC has a counter current.
