Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Really enjoying Colbert's final season of "fuck it, we're going down swinging" tour.

I know this is a profoundly unoriginal take, but this is why Shakespeare is still awesome: the times change, but people don’t. When performed, rather than read, his work is a portal demonstrating the unity of humanity across time and space. There is comfort and tragedy in that reality.

Suggestion: don’t ask ChatGPT or any other AI tool. Depending on the question you have ask:
-a librarian
-a medical doctor
-an anthropologist
-a literary/cultural studies scholar
-a travel agent
-a historian
-a media studies scholar
-a copy editor
-a writer
-an artist

Just don’t ask ChatGPT.🙋🏻‍♀️

Hey everyone, here's the news, if you aren't a high earner, entrepreneur or a "skilled frontline worker" (whatever the fuck that means) the "Labour" Party says you aren't contributing, you're a taker!

The home secretary is fucking disgusting there is no ‘seamless” way of inflicting the violence of deporting children to a country they’ve never been to

chart of child mortality in history, roughly 48% for all societies across the globe…until the 20th century, where it plummets to 4%

Currently dorking out over this graph about child mortality with my brother. Just mind boggling to take in.

Truth and accountability are crucial for public trust in politics; that's why I'm backing @compinpolitics.bsky.social's campaign for a targeted legal measure that would make it an offence for any politician or candidate to deliberately mislead the public on a matter of verifiable fact.

Travelers’ Tales from the Ends of the World - Lightspeed Magazine Welcome, Stranger! This is a story for you, you who wait for my words to fall into your ear, so that we can share being and become more than we are alone. The tales I have to tell today are woven into...

This is an incredible story by Vandana Singh. When you read it, take your time and read it to yourself like how you would as a storyteller to a child. There will be emotions and tears, but there will also be hope, understanding, and awakening. #imaginarium2 www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/trav...

I may be biased as Vandana Singh has been an incredible inspiration in my own SF journey, but her keynote yesterday was incredible. Honest truths about the dystopia we live in with wonderful empowering hopes that speak to all. 💪 Absolutely love potlucks as the start of wholesome activism. Let's go!
