#otd 1554 Simon Renard wrote to the Emperor, ‘after which she need have no fear for her crown, as Jane of Suffolk and Guildford, her husband, were to be beheaded, and the whole house of Suffolk would be obliterated by the execution of the three brothers now prisoners.'
#OTD in 1554 Lady Jane Grey was executed at the Tower of London.
Today I have an interview with the lovely @writerbeverleya.bsky.social about her latest book on Elizabeth of York - appropriate to discuss 11 February, which is the anniversary of her birth and death.

Elizabeth of York was born #otd in 1466 at Westminster Palace to Edward IV & Elizabeth Woodville. She married Henry Tudor in 1486. Her surviving son was Henry VIII & her daughters, Margaret & Mary, both became queens. You can read all about her in my latest book.
That was how many wealthy men dressed in the Tudor period. The richer the fabric and the more elaborate the style the richer and more powerful you were deemed to me.

#OTD 1567 Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, husband of Mary, Queen of Scots, was murdered at Kirk o’ Field, Edinburgh. The house was blown up using gunpowder but he managed to escape the blast & flee into the garden where his assailants caught him & smothered him to death.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book. My reading mojo completely left me but I’m sat waiting for mum whilst she has an appointment & I’ve picked this up by @jenniegauthor.bsky.social & I think I can say my reading mojo is back! I just know I’m going to love this so much 💙
#TudorTweet #OTD In 1559, Elizabeth I was crowned Queen of England & Ireland at Westminster Abbey. At midday, Owen Oglethorpe, Bishop of Carlisle, conducted the service which was a blend of both Catholic & Reformist elements. The feasting afterwards lasted approximately 10 hours.
Oh I know, I love having the ideas but pitching the idea and getting across what I want to write about sends me into a flap!
I’ve got myself a hot choc and a stack of notes to get written up, pure cosy writing vibes. ☺️
Sounds great! I am typing notes up today before I start my next research phase, which is my absolute favourite part of the writing process! 😆 Have a great day!!
Thank you so much, I really hope you enjoy it.
Well done!! I am waiting for my first proofs to come back and I am dreading it!
