If you want to see how film culture and language changes look at an oft adapted story, how it's adapted and who adapted it and how that evolves or devolves over time
RE: friendslop
A genre name is just a name
Unless there is bigoted connotations/words in the name itself, you give the power it has over you
I come from a medium where the term 'TRASH CINEMA' is not only a real genre but fully academically recognized, critically celebrated & culturally loved
The only thing I remember of him in any kind of recent memory is that his standup show like ten years ago in halifax was boycotted for being extremely misogynistic and transphobic
I don't mind fail clips every now and then but the internet as a whole just exhausts me too much to get much enjoyment out of these kinds of TV shows or youtube channels anymore myself
I lost interest in Tosh the moment when he showed a kid jump a river with a bike, fall into the river and emerge with his leg cleaved open to the bone and he mocked him
I think so.
Even lazier. I don't even think there are human hands involved. It's all scraped and assembled by algorithm imo

I've also learned that a lot of clipshows are just pulling shit from youtube. The only one with a host seems to by that MTV Rob Dyrdek show that makes Mark Mothersbaugh like 7 million a year in residuals due to them using a devo song for its opening credits & it being the only thing on MTV
America's Funniest Home Videos for the last I want to say 10 years has just been a rebranded TV clipshow version of the "Fail Nation" Youtube Channel
I hate hospitals
IMHO, it's very useful to play certain bad games as part of better understanding the medium.
Vampire World could be a cool RPG, but plays more like a beginner's RPG Maker project... very similar to the ones I did in the past. I feel playing this made understand better why my attempts felt so dull.

sometimes I think "bleh I've only been in the game industry for about 10 years, I don't know anything" and then I see someone's bio saying "I've been a game dev for 2 years and founded a company and give talks at 7 conferences a year" and I'm like
Canadian dollars but yes
Welp I just made myself super depressed
I wanted to tinker with a raspberry pi 5 and the standard price is now 287 dollars

The Post Racoon City stuff in Resident Evil is so interesting to me because you gotta go to work with full knowledge that, as Tim Robinson put it "There are monsters on the world"
The thing that I am thinking about with AI is that a lot of the datacenters we currently do have don't have the power infrastructure to handle them NOW. they run partially on fuel generators and we're about to enter a fuel crisis
I can't compete with this.
