I get a kick out of it when I see book covers and know that we have those books on our shelves in our shop. We try to make good choices and have our books be "windows, mirrors and sliding glass doors."

Correct, and, no one is "guilty" of anything until found so by a jury of their peers. Congress needs to invoke the War Powers Act and put a stop to these extrajudicial killings. We are NOT at war with people in motor boats.

As a bookstore owner, with a special focus on children's books that promote a more peaceful world, I was horrified to see Pete Hegseth do this with a kid's book character. Of course I'm horrified by the reality of what the U.S. has been doing, killing people this way.

The damage being caused by mis / disinformation perpetrated by those capitalizing on racism and xenophobia is extraordinary and impacts all members of the Latinx/Hispanic community in profound ways.

So this is their version of a national sales tax, an incredibly regressive tax that hurts the bottom 90% the most. At the same time they'll eliminate ANY taxes on income/capital gains. The wealthiest will get even wealthier.

The buck stops at the TOP of the chain of command, the President, and then the SecDef, then the Joint Chiefs, then, perhaps, the Admiral, and then.... the Seal commander and then and then and then. Congress must investigate from the top to the bottom.

Dear Kristi - At one point, just about everyone who newly came to this country was considered to be the scum of the earth by some of the people who were already here. Some folks more than others. That was prejudice. You, my dear, are the scum of the earth. That's not prejudice. It's real experience.

And of course I obeyed tons and tons of lawful orders, even some stupid ones! But, stupid doesn't equal unlawful.

It really gets me, actually, that we're more upset about the second strike on the one boat than on EVERY strike on boats. We have NO RIGHT to be doing this. Period.

Thanks! I was SOOOO nervous carrying a HUGE flagpole all the way down the aisle and getting it into its base and then.... "Will I remember the words to the pledge????" I didn't trip, kept the eagle at the top facing forward, and looked into the eyes of every attendee as we recited the pledge. Happy!

Newly elected Mayor of San Mateo Adam Lorraine

I was honored last night by Mayor Adam Lorraine to carry the flag and lead the people in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance for his taking up the gavel as the new mayor of San Mateo! He launched his campaign for City Counsel at our shop and I'm so proud of him!!!!

Looking at Newsom makes me want to do more pushups, eat more healthy California food, meditate, run laps, really up my game clothing-wise, and improve my comedy skills. But... for now, I'll just sit on my couch stick to writing my own columns. bit.ly/4otoTT2
