(Lecturing from my huge linguistic expertise - aka: living as a semi functioning immigrant in a country that does not speak my native language 😆)
Duolingo sentences are indeed ridiculous. At this point, I can say “the spider is reading a newspaper” in at least five different languages 🤣. For the shower part vs wash myself: english barely use the reflexive form, while romance languages use it just… everywhere (from latin middle voices).
Do you mean the adverb position?
If yes, romance languages are all like that (adverb after verb - kind of in the name “adverb” 😇) - vs. germanic languages (which somehow english picked on).
Maybe you meant something else though?
Cheers!
I would just install a cert on your phone (totally trivial once you are drunk and distracted) and then click on that bizarre "Charles Proxy" button on my laptop (not sure how it works, but I saw it on youtube, so must be magic). That must be the correct answer, right? 😆

We have style. We also have food, and champaign. We lecture others much better. And we are much more unpleasant overall. 😘
Yeah, I wish. That would be better and I could read through “intent” and come up with a proper model. Instead I am looking at shit implementation and left wondering what was the intent, reverse engineering bad ideas implemented poorly… anyhow done bitching and back at it 🤣
How do you screw a db schema. Service key on the frontend. No RLS. No triggers. No indexes. Slap dash foreign constraints and half assed relations. No ssl. Yolo!
Yeah well, sure, if you ask me, start with competent engineering and good practices in the first place… but hey, who does that? 🤣
I think vibe coding and AI is not necessarily the core issue here - it is more the mindset of the people: “I want features first and security / good practices we will do later”. Then whether you vibe code or offshore for cheap (incompetent), the result ends up the same: massive security issues…
It also sucks in and of itself of course, but can be tamed by appropriate engineering use with solid documented eng. knowledge and carefully crafted instructions. Kind of entirely defeating the alleged purpose 😆.
Using Claude code to assist in reimplementing some features: (unsurprisingly) you must babysit the AI assistant and provide it: strict coding instructions, drastic quality checks enforcement, careful review of whatever it is doing. Vibe coding sucks first because of the humans doing it unseriously.
That’s my current job 🤣 on a medium size frontend stack (next+supabase) that has been vibe coded + offshore team. The entire thing is a dumpster fire, specifically security wise. There is no piece meal fixing the bugs, as everything is wrong starting with the db schema. Has to be rewritten entirely.
A true masterpiece, from a sadly underrated director.

Shot this one last year. Yours is so much better (no humble brag - you are a pro, I am a just dilettante), but there is something that resonates for me between these images. Also, curious if you plan on selling prints of your pic? (Could not find it on your website)
Love this.
Fascinating shot. ❤️
Oh yeah. That one you should be able to more easily find: www.discogs.com/release/4595...

You're welcome. I do enjoy churning through jazz history :-).
Cheers.
I have not used Soulseek in over a decade, but maybe this is worth a search over there?
Note that there is a Miles Davis tape circulating for the 1969 Festival, recorded by audience members. So, maybe there is one for Monk as well then.
I doubt there is anything for the Toronto/Boston gig - and there does not seem to be much for the 1970 Vanguard, which appears to have been chaotic.

A third one is mentioned by Sheridan:
“Ed Blackwell on drums pending the arrival of Beaver Harris for gigs in Toronto and Boston [1970, around April]”
There is no details at all on that though.

Verbatim: “Wilbur Ware and Ed Blackwell were on bass and drums for part of the summer [of 1969] [for live dates]”
