Hidden Bradford - Rediscovering Bradford's Somali Village - BBC Sounds Dr. Fozia Bora delves into the captivating story of Bradford's 1904 Somali Village

In 1904, the #Bradford Exhibition in Lister Park (coinciding with the opening of Cartwright Hall) featured a Somali village.

In this BBC programme, Dr Fozia Bora talks about the village and villagers, explaining how it was both exploitative and a means of agency.

Today the deinstall of #LivingWithDeath began at LeedsCityMuseum (in a remarkably snow free city centre!) It was a privilege to have worked with so many collaborators. A huge thanks to those who gave time and expertise, and shared personal stories and items. Sad to see it go.

Totally this. Any analysis of museum performance that misses wellbeing benefits and savings to providers of other services like the NHS due to cutting social isolation is deeply flawed. Museum closures ARE a public health risk.

This is the season for pantomime. Productions tend to run for a very limited season but Francis Laidler, the "King of Pantomime's" 1944 production of Humpty Dumpty at Leeds Theatre Royal ran for a record breaking twenty-two weeks! The longest pantomime run for a century. Image: Leeds Libraries

Now almost unrecognisable from the Philosophical Hall on the left to Beckett's Bank and the Royal Insurance Building on the right and that iconic spire of St Ann's Cathedral. It's always lovely to see this painting. Did anyone else capture moonlit scenes as well as him?
