You don’t hate children & families if you don’t want these fraught actors to profit off our city’s kids. You aren’t a bad person if you question these moves. You should be skeptical of public money being diverted to private entities, especially with education. Don’t let paid off folks deceive you.
Anti-privatization advocates are familiar with this game. One need only look at airport privatization attempt or attempt to redirect $17m from SLPS to charters. There’s always some consultant getting paid to say it’s great. There’s always a legislator carrying water for a campaign account kickback.
Skeptics are routinely shouted down at hearings, gaslit by paid consultants, or accused of personal vendettas. Those being paid for their advocacy or who stand to benefit cannot fathom why anyone would advocate with no near-immediate financial gain. It’s a larger issue within our politics.
WEPOWER has a long track-record of involvement in education privatization. See: What’s Next SLPS?, the City/County ECE tax, Better Futures, and the first (illegal) ECE attempt at the BOA.
The recent bill’s online & in-person advocates either stand to benefit ($$ for providers) or are being paid.
Not so hot take, No public money for WePower.
The Grad Workers at Saint Louis University chose UAW to represent us in collective bargaining by a vote of 352-39 this week. Check out the story here: www.stlpr.org/news-briefs/...
LaborLab is the only watchdog organization committed to tracking, investigating, and alerting workers to corporate spending on union-busting.
And we need your help, so please like, follow, and share. Help us ensure workers are guaranteed the right to choose a union.
Thanks to the wonderful @lonesometoast.bsky.social for letting me into the cool kids club.
