A montage of three photos showing an LNER Azuma train passing the new southbound platform, the concourse of the new station gateway building and David Horne, Carl Howarth and Philip Cooke of LNER wearing orange PPE standing on the new footbridge

Great to don the PPE today and get a behind the scenes tour of the new Darlington station gateway entrance and new platforms 5 & 6. It’s going to be really impressive - and will improve punctuality by reducing the need for southbound services to cross over.

There’s always time for a cuppa and a catch-up #Brew Monday

Monday 19 January - buy a hot drink on board an @lner.co.uk train and the proceeds go to the @samaritans.bsky.social

It’s for #BrewMonday - a cuppa, a catch-up, a “how are you, really?”, it might feel small, but it can make a world of difference.

A plaque which reads This memorial garden has been created in memory of those who died in the Hatfield rail tragedy on October 17th, 2000. Please treat it with respect.

Afterwards we laid flowers at the memorial and at 12.23pm, the time of the crash, held a minute’s silence. We remember the four men who died in the crash, the people who were injured and everyone who was touched by the tragedy.
