Americans turned out en masse in communities across the country Saturday, raucously pushing back on what they see as President Donald Trump’s widening authoritarianism, attacks on immigrants and federal cutbacks to lifesaving programs.

With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, I’m going to underline this point again.

Worth bearing in mind that illegal entry is a misdemeanor and being unlawfully present in the country is not even a criminal offense, but a civil one. This is the equivalent of saying we need to torch the Constitution & send in the SWAT team to catch jaywalkers & people with overdue library books.

This is severe, if not shocking, escalation in US hostility toward the ICC.

Keep an eye on the member states. If they stay quiet, it's a five alarm fire sort of deal for the Court and international law.
