Don't tell certain Grognards but I'm okay on the edit. I just found it boring. I don't need to know what colour my PCs underpants were on the second Windsday of Stormseason. That's niche supplement material, not core rules. Less a bad edit more a terrible design decision.

For a major title it is I think the worst edited book I've ever read in terms of flow and logical layout. I certainly can't think of one I found more confusing in modern times.

I remember my first read of the Core rulebook and finding early on it was calling out concepts that hadn't yet been explained. Terrible editing.

I too wonder if it is largely a tidy up of all the peripheral improvments from supplements brought back into a new core ruleset.

The core rulebook always sells more than any other title so yes there may be some cashing in
But there aren't many RPG millionaires & the cash has to come from somewhere
