#Cocktail - Black Watch

60ml Scotch, 30ml Averna, dash Angostura, Cherry, orange twist

The name is a bit of a cheat as there's already another, 50ml Scotch, 20ml Coffee Liqueur, Lemon twist

But since I have the very similar Blessed (fka Black) Manhattan with Rye/Bourbon, why not?

Corpus Christi careens toward water catastrophe City officials expect to reach a “water emergency” within months and run out of water next year. That would halt jet fuel deliveries to Texas airports, hike gas prices and trigger a local economic disaster without precedent, former officials say.

As of about 2020, the IPCC definition of the target "1.5C above pre-industrial" refers to a 30 year average, not a single year or month. This allows for individual year variations. But when the average temp is rising so fast, 30 years feels too long.

C3S Global Temperature Trend Monitor Reaching 1.5°C of global warming - a limit agreed under the Paris agreement - may feel like a very distant reality, but it might be closer than you think. See where we are now and how soon we would reach the limit if the warming continued at today's pace.

For individual month averages, varying adjustments are made between 0.80C and 0.96C due to yearly variations.

So 1.5C warming above pre-industrial is 0.62C above 1991-2020

#Climate Things I did not know. Anomalies in Avg Global 2m Air Temperature are measured against the 1991–2020 ref period as this well documented. For yearly averages a constant 0.88C is then applied to show an anomaly against the 1850-1900 "pre-industrial" average as this is less documented.

I usually watch those kind of things at 1.5x or 2x speed. But Feargal has so many words and talks so fast that I could only manage 1.25x.

Both of them have this air of just speaking unavoidable truths. I'm sure they're not always right but your arguments had better be tight if you want to disagree.

It seems we don't have a lot of storage. And it was Liz Truss as energy sec who signed off on reducing it.

#Cocktail - L'Appetit

30ml Fernet Branca, 50ml Red Vermouth, rocks, Orange twist

The Fernet taste overpowers. You might as well just drink Fernet on the rocks on its own. Fine if you like that kind of thing.

So that's the line is it? "Greens reject social care and social housing." Really? Are you just making this stuff up, Labour?

One London Labour MP told the Guardian: “We can’t dismiss voters’ concerns and need to work hard to rebuild trust. We have some incredible Labour councils and councillors doing amazing work in their communities.

“That work risks being undone if Labour nationally doesn’t start addressing worries of progressive voters around policies like welfare cuts, the language government uses on immigration and the response to Gaza.”

A second accused party chiefs of refusing to listen to warnings over the Greens and approaching the threat on their progressive flank like “student politics”. “The chaos that will come from London descending into Green madness with no housing being built and no investment in social care will be catastrophic for the poorest people.”

> The data shows that Labour’s core voters think Keir Starmer disagrees with them on *Gaza, social equality issues and Brexit*. They want someone that shares their values.
