This type of situation is playing out in millions of households around the country.

By the way this is why I know they’re lying when they say they knew who was on the boats and they’re all on a military list. The US military had somehow built a dossier on Robert Sanchez, the boat pilot living in a cinderblock house and earning $100 a month? He was next on the kill list after Osama?

When the Republican candidate ran for governor in 2022, he only got 51% in ME-2, he moved to FL and now is sort of back to run for the House, and the political headwinds against Republicans will be strong in November 2026.

How Matt Dunlap Can Win Maine’s 2nd Congressional District Experience, character, and fit position him to beat Paul LePage in 2026

Trump won the district, yes. But in House races the district itself has elected a slew of moderate Democrats and Republicans. Voters have no problems splitting tickets and there are a lot of independents there. Dunlap is a great candidate and can win. amyfried.substack.com/p/how-matt-d...

I hope you back Matt Dunlap who’s running in ME-2. It’s a district currently held by Dem Jared Golden, who, as he’s become increasingly pro-Trump has lost electoral support. Dunlap is a quality candidate who can win the district and deserves national attention and support.

Having finished a book tracing US migration & citizenship from the colonial period to 1888, the lesson people are missing today from history is: 1) Without legal citizenship, all kinds of discrimination can be done to you & w/ no due process/equal protection. This is the very reason why the 14th 1/

I don’t see why they think this will affect Angus King. He got reelected last year at age 80 and it’s likely his last term.

my great-grandparents arrived in the UK in the 1890s with nothing.
they sold pickles from the front room window, took in laundry, worked as tailors.
their children were nurses, teachers, salesmen.
their grandchildren were professors, designers, opticians, doctors, magistrates, entrepreneurs.

Gramps here, lecturing leftists who say the Dems can't change that in 56 it was aligned with Southern segregationists (who got the VP noms), but by 64 with MLK, because of successful social movement organizing. Take the party over, leftists. Else you're not actually involved in US politics.

BREAKING: β€˜This hurts’: UNL eliminates 4 programs despite faculty, student pleas The University of Nebraska-Lincoln eliminates the Earth and atmospheric sciences 8-0, educational administration 7-1, statistics 7-1, textiles, merchandising and fashion design 7-1 programs.

It's over.

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

I sat in a naturalization ceremony as part of a League of Women Voters group that registered people to vote right afterwards. It was an incredible experience with beaming new citizens and their families, and the judge overseeing it gave a lovely speech about becoming an American.

Amnesty International released findings from its investigation into the Everglades Concentration Camp (Alligator Alcatraz), which was built by the Florida Division of Emergency Management.

They found evidence of torture, among other human rights violations.

Pete Hegseth Already Admitted He Knew About That Second Strike The defense secretary bragged in September that he watched the strike.

A clip of Hegseth discussing the strike the next day with Fox News resurfaced online Monday night. trib.al/eV3UYul

In the clip, Hegseth said he watched the second strike, to kill survivors from their initial attack, on September 2, "I watched it live. We knew exactly who was in that boat."

The reporter suggests that more bad headlines are in Platner's future.

I think his analysis that "The seeds of his demise, in other words, are the roots of his appeal" is right on.

Whatever happens with his candidacy, I hope Platner has found peace as much as possible.

Platner loved combat and it led him to list and repeatedly reenlist. His first enlistment was after he protested the Iraq War.

The Politico piece reveals that Platner wasn't the Senate campaign recruiters' first choice but the second and they spent little time vetting him. #mepolitics

Also, unlike some working class folks (including friends of mine)k Platner didn't join the military for economic reasons, He also didn't join to protect the country or for patriotic reasons (like many after Pearl Harbor or Golden after 9/11). He had a long interest in being in combat. #mepolitics

06.12.2025 20:53 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Politico quotes a Bath union leader who says he isn't sure he'll vote for Platner who notes that the majority of people he works with think Platner is "a non-working-class person’s idea of a working-class person." #mepolitics

06.12.2025 20:53 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The Politico piece also did a nice job tying Platner's candidacy to the broader political context.

At the same time, it's clear he isn't remotely from a working class family and isn't working class now. He wouldn't have his property or business without the financial help of his family. #mepolitics

06.12.2025 20:53 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I thought the most positive parts for Platner in the Politico piece was his unabashed support for universal coverage and recognition of how it would help people starting and in small businesses, and the energy and organizing of the campaign. #mepoliitics

And my working class friends who were in the military for economic reasons think Platner is a phony.
He’s from an upper middle class+ professional family. Didn’t need $ for college. Didn’t join to support country (unlike Golden after 9/11). Opposed Iraq War but always wanted combat, so enlisted.
