I had to look up this term (I knew what it was, just never learned the term!) and if you look closely at the eye socket, it looks like it’s merged with the temporal fenestra. Weird as hell, but it lowkey tracks for the species.

This wigeon has easily become one of my top ten best birds I’ve had the chance to mount. He was super clean and fell together perfectly.
