Also, just a bold faced lie in that second paragraph - the COVID vaccine is legitimately one of the most efficacious vaccines in human history. If any of these "experts" can "review the science" and determine otherwise I would have serious questions about their competency.

Little scientist ego boost today when my custom-designed qPCR primer pairs for GAPDH were all within acceptable efficiency range, except for the IDT "ready-made" pair that I purchased on the side, which was by far the least efficient. Also - despair that people are wasting money on a bad pair!

Unions are formed all the time, yet this timeline lays out what happens in BC when a unionization effort is challenged: years of delays and vague messaging. BC needs to fix the LRB if this kind of thing is allowed to happen.

I was extremely disappointed to wake up this morning to see that the case has been delayed yet again. I've since graduated - as have most of the people who would've signed those cards - but I keep tabs on it because I believe that research is work and grad students deserve to be protected.

Sharing something near and dear to my heart - unions! Many moons ago, I and thousands of other grad students at UBC voted to unionize to improve working conditions. UBC disputed, and thus the case ended up at British Columbia's Labour Relations Board, where it has been delayed for several years.

I've finally joined the Twitter exodus and moved over to Bluesky. I mostly favourite, but sometimes I post, about mRNA therapeutics. DMs and mentions always open to chat science, hockey, and cats!
