It appears the submarine labelled as having a stern is just the Alrosa with her large pumpjet which is easier to spot on satellite imagery.

The escort action could be a direct response of Russia against mounting western sanctions that increasingly targets Russia’s fleet of aging and often uninsured tankers, better known as the Shadow Fleet 🇷🇺
