The President has launched our nation and our great military into a war of choice, risking American lives and resources, ignoring American law, and endangering our allies and partners. It does nothing to help with the urgent problems here at home that Americans face every day.

They want our brains to explode from the hypocrisy and lies.

Everywhere I go, people tell me they can't afford their lives.

They tell me they are ready to get big money and corporations out of our politics.

In Two Harbors I met the mother of a National Guardsman who was worried her son would be called up to serve in another senseless war.

Real Minnesotans’ lives are at stake, as are the lives of innocent people throughout the Middle East.

The facts suggest two interpretive frameworks for Iran: a foreign war as a mechanism to destroy democracy at home; and a foreign war as an element of personal corruption by the president of the U.S.

We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.

I'm begging my fellow politicians, Illinoisans, and Americans to realize that right now, we aren't fighting over policy or political party.

We're fighting over whether we're going to be a country rooted in empathy and kindness — or one rooted in cruelty and rage.

To that end, we will gather at the Capitol on Wednesday, February 18th from 1-3 PM for a rally, march, and action. We will demonstrate a mandate for bold leadership from our officials to pass an economic relief package that meets the crisis of this moment. Join us!

Now, we need to be focused on how we can come together to hold ICE accountable and help our state recover. We also must demand that all state officials, including and especially Minnesota Republicans, lead on a path to restore and heal our communities from the carnage caused by Trump’s ICE.

Much damage has been done. And now we must do the work of holding those who trampled on our rights and murdered or injured our neighbors accountable for their lawlessness.

We should, however, take this as a victory. Our determination, courage and resilience was instrumental in making it harder for ICE to carry out their plans to terrorize our neighbors.

Yesterday, Border Czar Tom Homan announced that Operation Metro Surge was complete. Most Minnesotans know that we cannot trust what this administration says and that we will need to see clear evidence of ICE removal for ourselves.
