We work our CPTSD recovery because there are things we were meant to experience in life without hating or doubting ourselves. Recovery is not about "the past" or "blame"-- it's about creating a present & future we can realistically shape & experience without the past haunting us.

Shame has been CONDITIONED in us. It wasn't just one thing said to us one time. Realistic recovery is going to require we recondition & reprogram ourselves, w/ consistency, compassion, patience, & realism.

You just focus on recovery supporting self talk & micro choices today.

Don't let Trauma Brain guilt you into lowering your relationship standards. You don't "owe" intimacy or commitment to anyone just because they are nice to you.

Trauma Brain is going to tell you you're not a catch, & you shouldn't be picky-- but that's such, such bullsh*t.

Making recovery supporting decisions doesn't mean making "perfect" decisions. Recovery from CPTSD is not about perfection or pressure, ever.

It's about making the best choices we can w/ what we have-- & being realistic & fair w/ ourselves as we make adjustments going forward.

For many complex trauma survivors, trees, bodies of water, & nature play a role in their recovery that is hard to explain-- & impossible to replace.

Recovery supporting decisions don't have to be complicated or dramatic. Anything that helps you feel more like yourself, & helps you believe that yourself is someone worth being-- that's a recovery supporting decision.

The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true.
