#ArtAdventCalendar Day 7: the Carolina satyr is a local butterfly that's easy to overlook because it's very small, flits for a long time before sitting down, and favors shady wooded habitats. It also sometimes chooses a perch that serves as camouflage, but this one's eyes gave it away.

This one and others frequent my yard enough that I think they don't care about me anymore, and that's the only reason I got this. I feel really lucky that it let me throw a camera in its face for so long.
